Abstract

Taka Bonerate National Park is the third largest atoll area in the world, with an atoll area of 220,000 hectares. Administratively, Taka Bonerate National Park is located in Taka Bonerate District, Kepualuan Selayar Regency, South Sulawesi Province at 120o 55' – 121o 25' East Longitude and 6o 20'-7o 10' South Latitude. The turtle population is decreasing due to habitat destruction, development on the coast, and catching turtles for eggs, shells, meat and skin, so it is necessary to carry out conservation efforts such as hatchling maintenance to maintain turtle survival. The method used in this activity is direct observation and interviews with related officers. Feeding fresh fish helps the growth of hatchlings. Feed is given twice a day by chopping fish into small pieces. Treatment in the form of changing pond water once a day can increase the survival of hatchlings and avoid disease. Better facilities are needed to support the maintenance carried out at SPTN 2 Jinato.
