SPATIAL MODELING OF MANGROVE DEFORESTATION IN MAHAKAM RIVER DELTA KUTAI DISTRICT KERTANEGARA PROVINCE OF EAST KALIMANTAN

Abstract

This study aims to determine the changes (deforestation) of mangroves that occurred in the Mahakam Delta area of ​​Kutai Kertanegara Regency, East Kalimantan from 2003-2020. The data collection method in this study, for mangrove deforestation, begins by downloading the Landsat Delta Mahakam satellite imagery in 2003, 2009, 2015 and 2020 (path / row 116/60 and 116/61) from http://glovis.usgs.gov/ . Then an analysis was carried out using the Google Earth Engine with supervised classification techniques to determine the extent of mangroves in 2000, 2009, 2015, and 2020. Ground check was carried out by visiting several points in the field and using the help of Google Earth Pro. The results showed that the mangrove deforestation rate in the Mahakam Delta for 17 years (2003-2020) reached 10,155 ha / year, while the rate of increase in pond area and open land was 3,773 ha / year and 90.7 ha / year. The highest mangrove deforestation occurred due to changes in mangrove land into ponds and industrial land by the community and several companies.
